Frequently Asked Questions - General


For the INTRO (relay) event, yes.
For the long or middle distance event, no.
For the olympic distance event, no.

Entrants must be 18 or over on the day of the event for the long & middle distance events.
Entrants for the Olympic event need to be over 16.
There is no upper age limit.

The Insurance option covers you until the 23.59pm on the 01/07/09.

Anyone who took the insurance option when registering will get a refund if the withdrawal letter is received before 01/07/09.

For those who didn’t take the insurance option:

  • Refunds of 75% are available up until the 23.59pm on the 31/03/09.
  • Refunds of 50% are available up until the 23.59pm on the 31/05/09.
  • No refunds are available from the 01/06/09.

All withdrawals must be posted to the race office in writing and signed and dated by the competitor. E-mail notification is not sufficient. Send letter to Éireman, 149 Ballyfermot Road, Dublin 10. Ireland. The race office cannot accept responsibility for any lost or late post.

Withdrawal requests should contain the following information: Competitors Name, Address, Phone Number.
For security we also request that you provide the name of the Emergency Contact Person you put in on the application. This letter needs to be signed and dated.

Competitors must be 18 or over on the day of the event. There is no upper age limit.

Yes. Your number must be clearly visible on your back for the cycle and on your front for the run. Please do not interfere with your race number in any way. No writing or cutting. Any changes to your race number could result in disqualification.

Yes, age groupers and pros are competing for the same prize money.

Yes. It is in your interest for your own safety and enjoyment of the race. It also gives us an opportunity to inform competitors of any changes to the course, remind competitors of the rules and field questions to clarify any issues.

Your triathlon licence card will be checked at registration. If you don't have a Triathlon Ireland licence or are part of a triathlon federation not affiliated to the ITU you must purchase a one day licence to race. The cost is €15 and is paid to Triathlon Ireland.

Yes, they are as follows:

  • Swim - 2 hours 20 mins after start time
  • Bike - 10 hours 30 mins after start time
  • Run - 17 hours after start time
